"What I love about Chi O is that it is not an identity but a platform that enables us to live out real and authentic friendships that push us not only closer to the Lord but also challenge us to be vulnerable and loving in the way that we live."
- Charlotte Brakmann
About Charlotte (submitted by Jayne Molchan):
Charlotte is a magical human. I wouldn’t normally use those words because the vocabulary is out of character for me, but it describes her perfectly. When you talk to Charlotte for even a second, you feel like a freshly picked handful of flowers and like the most cared-for person in the world. She is genuine with her words and authentic with her feelings. When I’m with her, I am reminded that it’s okay to feel upset or discouraged because I’m human; all the while never failing to mention that God is greater than these immediate set backs. Charlotte is one of a kind and I am so thankful for Chi Omega for leading me to our friendship.
What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done?
I would have to say that my trip to Israel and Jordan the summer going into my senior year of high school is at the top of my list. From riding on a camel's back to sailing on the Sea of Galilee, I truly saw the Bible come to life in a way I had never imagined and came home with the greatest Chaco tan.
What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
My proudest moments are when people tell me that I remind them of my grandmother. My grandmother was a God-fearing, flower arranging, kind-hearted, and strong lady. She taught me the power of a hand written note, calling someone by their full name, and the power of a little bit of sass to cut her sweet southern drawl. People aren't going to remember what I was involved in, how popular I was, or measurable ways of success, but they will remember how I made them feel. I pray that people feel the warmth of Jesus when they are with me, like my Dee Dee made me feel.
If you had five words to describe yourself, what would they be?
Cozy, caffeinated, warm, child-like spirit, and old soul
What is your favorite Auburn memory so far?
My favorite Auburn memory was probably this past homecoming week last fall. Katie Knell's platform was very close to my heart because it addressed human trafficking and personal freedom. I have loved working with International Justice Mission on Auburn's campus this year, so being able to talk with strangers on the concourse all week about freedom and bond with everyone was such a blast. I am a sucker for moments when everyone comes together for something meaningful and bigger than themselves.
