A message from our president...
On behalf of the Alpha Beta chapter of Chi Omega, welcome! My name is Carlee Yarbrough, and I have the absolute honor of serving the Alpha Beta chapter as President. We hope that through our website you are able to catch a glimpse of what makes our chapter so special and unique.
Alpha Beta is a one-of-a-kind chapter. During recruitment, I fell in love with the genuine conversations and various personalities I saw within each active member. I noticed there was no “cookie cutter” personality or image I needed to fit; I could just relax and be my true self, and this love has not faded. Chi Omega is defined by genuineness, depth, and integrity as we seek to draw upon others’ strengths. We focus on fostering the individual growth of each chapter member, so that every woman can impact the university and our community in their own exceptional way.
Chi Omegas are truly a well-rounded and diverse group of women! Between philanthropic work, socials, and academics, Chi Omegas further their involvement on Auburn’s campus in countless ways. Whether it be Student Government Association, Camp War Eagle Counselors, War Eagle Girls & Plainsman, or Auburn Cheer, it is hard to find an organization on our campus that a Chi Omega is not a part of! As you can see, their activities and interests are extremely varied, yet combined they reflect our hearts of service to the university and surrounding community. Everything I strive to be - ranging from friendship to academics - is thanks to the influence of Alpha Beta’s exceptional women, not only on me, but on the entirety of Auburn.
I can confidently say I look to both older and younger sisters within this chapter to become a better leader. The love I felt on Bid Day 2018 has not changed, and these women have believed in me and fostered my growth every day since. The love I feel from this chapter each day reminds me of 1 Corinthians 13:7, “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things”. My hope as President is to be able to reflect the ideals and characteristics on which our Fraternity stands. The women in this chapter have made me who I am today and I am humbled and honored to serve them this year. Thank you for stopping by and gaining a better understanding of what Chi Omega is all about!
The Chi Omega Symphony
“To live constantly above snobbery of word or deed; to place scholarship
before social obligations and character before appearances; to be,
in the best sense, democratic rather than ‘exclusive’, and lovable rather
than ‘popular’; to work earnestly, to speak kindly, to act sincerely, to
choose thoughtfully that course which occasion and conscience demand;
to be womanly always; to be discouraged never; in a word, to be loyal under any
and all circumstances to my Fraternity and her highest teachings
and to have her welfare ever at heart that she may be a symphony of
high purpose and helpfulness in which there is no discordant note.”
— Ethel Switzer Howard, Xi Chapter 1904
